Marketing

Most of what I know about marketing, I learned the way I learned most things worth knowing: by shipping something, watching it fall flat, and figuring out why. I did not come up through an agency. I came up building products and then having to explain, clearly and honestly, why anyone should care about them.

That is the lens for everything on this page. Branding, positioning, and advertising only matter to me when they connect to something real: a product a team actually built, a claim that can survive scrutiny, a message that respects the reader’s time instead of padding it. I am especially interested in where AI is changing marketing work in practice, not the vendor pitch version, but what it means day to day when a tool can draft copy, test variants, or personalize a message faster than a person can review it.

I also try to be honest about where marketing and engineering pull against each other. A launch date rarely lines up with a feature’s actual readiness, and a bold claim in an ad rarely survives contact with a support queue. The articles I file here look at that friction directly, with the goal of helping people who build things say something true about what they built, and say it well.
